Creating a Parametric Opening & End Condition

The following is a typical procedure for creating a parametric opening. First the 2D presentation is created and then the 3D, although the order can be reversed. If you only create a 2D presentation, the system can create a simple 3D rectangular opening for you.

The basic steps are summarized below, and described in full in the following paragraphs.

2D Opening Symbol

Create the 2D opening symbol.

Add dimension lines.

Change the dimension text to parametric text.

Add control points to determine the relationship of the opening to the wall and end condition.

Save the opening as a presentation (XY or YZ section) in the library

3D Opening

Create the 3D opening in the same file by drawing over the 2D opening.

Add dimension lines.

Change the dimension text to parameter text.

Delete the 2D opening.

Save the opening as a 3D presentation in the library.
