Area Fill Patterns
An area fill pattern is formed from a planar motif or design. The motif is repeated as many times as necessary to fill an area enclosed by a polygon. The system clips the motif at the boundaries of the polygon.
Areas that can be Filled
You can fill any area that is surrounded by a polygon. If there is no polygon enclosing the desired area, you can create a temporary polygon and delete it after filling it with the pattern.
Predefined Patterns
ARC+ provides a number of predefined area fill patterns. You can specify the name of a pattern or select it from a graphic library display.
Designing a New Area Fill Pattern
You can design a pattern yourself, using the ordinary ARC+ commands.
To do this, draw the motif within a rectangular area on the current working plane. The motif may include line, arc, polygon and polygon arc entities only.
If you want to keep a space between repetitions of the motif, insert control lines of type 4 at diagonally opposite corners of the motif. The control lines define the edges of the rectangular unit that is repeated but are not displayed when the pattern is used.
Save the design in the pattern library (directory patterns) by using the Saving a library file (\libedit) command (see Placing Objects & Libraries).
