Importing a Model into Another

Import a model into (the source file) another model file (the target file).

\retf

This command merges two model files. After merging, the target file contains both its original entities and the copied entities. The copied entities are added to the selection group of the target file. The source file remains unchanged.

Use this command:

To combine two files into one

To copy all the entities of a design into a model

To reverse the effect of the Extracting part of a file (\extf) command

Specify the name of the target and source files. If you wish to merge to or from the new model file in the working window, then specify new model as target or source.

Choose a reference point where the origin of the source file is to be located:

The origin of the target file (0 0 0)

Any other point in the target file

All entities in the source (except blanked entities and entities in non-displayed layers of ARC+) are copied into the target and located with respect to the specified reference point. The copied entities become selected and are displayed in red dotted lines.
