Sectioning a Solid Entity

Section a single entity:

\secte

Section a selection group of entities:

\sects

Section an entire model:

\secta

ARC+ provides you with several options for each type of section:

A single entity

A selection group of entities

The whole model

Choose the command that you require. If you choose a selection group, select the entities to be sectioned before using this command. If you section the entire model, specify if you want the section plane outlined in a thick line. If so, a section polygon is created around the section plane of each entity.

Specify the method of defining the section plane:

Orthogonal (parallel to one of the axial planes)

Diagonal (normal to one of the axial planes)

Free  (defined by three points in space)

Orthogonal Section

Specify the axis to be sectioned and state whether the section plane will be defined by a coordinate value or by the cursor.

Specify the coordinate value of the section plane or define a point to a location on the screen. Specify another coordinate value or another point on the screen on the side of the section plane to be maintained.

To section an individual entity, indicate the entity to be sectioned. Selection groups and complete models do not have to be indicated.

The entity, entities or model is sectioned.

Diagonal Section

Define two points defining the diagonal section plane and a third point defining the side of the plane to be maintained.

To section an individual entity, indicate the entity to be sectioned. Selection groups and complete models do not have to be indicated.

The entity, entities or model is sectioned on a plane defined by the two points and a third one that the system assumes parallel to the XY plane.

Free Section

Define three points outlining the free section plane and a fourth point defining the side of the parts to keep.

To section an individual entity, indicate the entity to be sectioned. Selection groups and complete models do not have to be indicated.

The entity, entities, or model is sectioned. Confirm the result.
