Plotter Configuration
Use this option to set the output device to the printer or plotter.
Users are advised to set the plotter configuration when using the plotter for the first time with ARC+. The plotter configuration has to be set only once. . ARC+ remembers plotter configuration settings between sessions.
When you selects the plotter type, ARC+ displays a list of parameters by default. These parameters can be modified as desired. Consult the manual of use of the plotter for this purpose, for a detailed description of each parameter.
The following are the settings for the plotter configuration dialog.
Dialog Box Options
TYPE OF PLOTTER Most plotter types are supported by ARC+,
Some examples are listed below:
Hewlett Packard pen plotters
Houston Instruments pen plotters
GraphTec pen plotters
Hewlett Packard electrostatic plotters
Any plotter that is 100% compatible with one of the above
SUGGESTION Many plotters can be configured for the "Plotter" or "Software"palettes. The "software" palettes enables you to define the pen, type of line or the color to be used. The "plotter" palettes use the internal parameters of the plotter. Users are advised to select this last option, if they are working for a print service and cannot define the parameters of the plotter.
For more information, consult the Manual of the plotter or your print service.
COMMUNICATION PORT
The series, parallel or USB port of your computer to which your plotter is connected like LPT1 or COM1. (For computers under NT, this parameter includes the names of files waiting for printing set on the network). |
COMMUNICATION PARAMETERS The plotter is connected to a series port, specify the parity, number of bits of data and number of Stop bits by respecting the instructions given by the plotter Manual. |
INIT. STRING character The name of an initialization file containing a string that ARC+ sends to your plotter at the start of each plot.END STRING String of 10 maximum characters sent by ARC+ to indicate the end of plotting to the plotter |
END STRING String of 10 maximum characters send by ARC+ to indicate the end of plot to the plotter. |
NUMBER OF PENS The number of pens in your plotter. |
RESOLUTION The minimum separation between two lines on your plotter (in mm, inches, or other units depending on your plotter model). |
PAPER SIZES The maximum plot dimensions (not including margins) that your plotter produces on each of up to six paper sizes. You may define any paper size that your plotter accepts |
REINITIALIZE Restores all settings to their original values when you entered the command |
DEFAULT Restores the ARC+ system default settings. |
Plotter Settings
In the dialog box PLOTTER PARAMETERS, you can set the parameters defining the pagination and the format of your plot. You can:
Choose the Plotting Settings option from the Plot Manager dialog box to display the plotter settings dialog box..
Select the option Parameters of the plotter in the dialog box PLOT MANAGER so as to display the dialog box PLOTTER PARAMETERS.
SCALE OF THE DRAWING
Select the scale of your drawing. The default option is AUTO; (the drawing occupies the complete page) or enter the desired scale |
ZONE OF THE DRAWING IN MM
Change to one of the paper sizes defined in the plotter configuration. |
DISPLACEMENT OF THE REFERENCE POINT OF THE PL OT
Plot point used for alignment of the drawing. The reference point of the drawing shall be placed on the original point of the plotter transferred by the values defined for the displacement. (the central reference point shall be used only for the plotters of which the origin is situated in the centre of the plotter).
|
DISPLACEMENT
Displacement in mm from the reference point alignment |
PORTRAIT/LANDSCAPE
The orientation of your drawing on the paper—x axis horizontal or vertical |
This indicates when the drawing sheet generator is active on your screen (see Drawing sheet generator). If you are in DSG mode and wish to use the scale, paper size, reference point, displacement, and rotation defined above, you must quit plotting and then change from DSG to modeling mode before adjusting the plotter settings. (In DSG mode the paper size is defined by the DSG paper settings. The scale is always 1.)
|
PEN Choose to plot the drawing using multiple pens (one for each color and/or line width) or a single pen for all colors.. |
TABLE OF COLORS OF PEN
For each ARC+ color, enter the pen number to be used for the line thicknesses 1 and 2. If you enter 0 for the thickness 2, this thickness shall be simulated by a double passage of the pen 1. |
TABLE OF THICKNESS OF COLORS For the electrostatic plotters |
SPEED OF PLOTTER PENS
Display the number of pen desired by brightening, then enter the new speed for this pen in percentage of the max. speed authorised for this pen. You shall select the lower speeds for the plots with high resolution. If your plotter is equipped with automatic control of the pen speed, cancel this option on the control panel of the plotter (consult the plotter manual) so that the speeds defined by ARC+ are considered.
|
SIZE OF SEGMENTS BY LINE TYPE
Specify the length of the repetition unit in mm (e.g. space followed by a dash) used for the representation of broken lines. (for the plotters with Hewlett – Packard pens, add the sign minus – before the value so as to align the type of line and to guarantee that each line finishes with a dash and not a space) |
SAVE Save your customized settings in a file.
OPEN Restore your settings from a file that you previously saved
REINITIALIZE Restores all settings to their original values when you entered the command.
DEFAULT Restores the ARC+ system default settings.
Specify and confirm the desired settings, saving or loading them from a file if desire.
The specified settings are used in all subsequent plots during the ARC+ session, until the settings are modified again.
