Exporting a Model into Another

Export a model (source file) to another model file (the target file). The source file can be the model display on your screen, or another file in one of your project folders.

\fmerge

On Screen :

You can merge selected elements from the current model on your screen into a target file (that exists in a project folder). Choose one of the following options to transfer entities to the target file:

selection group

by fence

by indicated entities

whole file

Specify the origin by defining a point on the screen or by specifying coordinates for the source orientation point in the target model. Press Enter to use the same origin point (0 0 0).

Alternatively, you can merge the entire files off screen. Type the names of both the file to merge and the target file, or press Enter to select the files from the Select dialog box.

Off Screen:

You can also merge two model files off screen. After merging, the target file now contains its original entities and the copied ones that are added to the selection group of the target file. The source file remains unchanged.

Use this command:

To combine two files into one

To copy all the entities of a design into a model

To reverse the effect of the Extracting part of a file (\extf) command

Operation

image\ebx_1712504276.gif IMPORTANT This command alters the target file permanently on disk. To preserve the original target file, save it under another filename before merging.

Specify the name of the target and source files. If you wish to merge to or from the new file in the working window, then specify new as target or source.

Choose a reference point where the origin of the source file is to be located:

The origin of the target file (0 0 0)

Any other point in the target file

All entities in the source (except blanked entities and entities in non-displayed layers of ARC+) are copied into the target and located with respect to the specified reference point. The copied entities become selected and are displayed in red dotted lines.
