Changing the Layer of an Entity

Move an entity or selection group from one layer to another.

If you want to move a selection group, select the entities to be moved before using this command. The selected entities can belong to one or more layers.

Specify the layer to which the entity or selection group is to be transferred. Choose to move a selection group or a single entity.

If you are moving a single entity, indicate the entity to be transferred, in any layer currently displayed on the screen.

The indicated entity or selection group is transferred to the specified layer.

image\ebx_1693072387.gif NOTE DXF files imported from other programs may contain entities in layer 0, which cannot be accessed by ARC+ commands. If this occurs, move the entities from layer 0 to another layer of the model, using the following procedure.

Select all entities in layer 0 with the Selecting by layer number (\lsel command, see Selection).

Move the selection group to another layer with the Changing the layer (\ulyr command).
