Archiving a Model and Associated Files

Copy a model together with associated placed object, library, and system files.

\fcopy

Use this command to make an archival backup of a project or to transfer a project to another ARC+ user. You may choose to copy files from the current directory only, or from the current and library directories.

All files are copied to appropriate directories:

The model file and all placed objects from the model directory are copied to a target directory that you specify, e.g., a:\projecta

Library files, including those from the system arcalib directory and any other directory with the name arcalib on your disk, are copied to an arcalib directory in the target location.

System files (such as fonts and configuration files) are copied to directories with ARC+ system names in the target location.

For example, if the original model is c:\projecta\model1 and you save to a:\, the model file is copied as a:\model1 and library files are copied to subdirectories of a:\arcalib. If the directories do not exist in the target location, they are created by the system.

Operation

Specify the source model filename (e.g., model1), or press Enter to copy the currently displayed model. If the model is not in the current directory, include the full directory path (up to 125 characters).

Specify a target path and filename for the copy of the model (e.g., a:\model1).

Choose to copy:

The model file only

The model plus placed object source files from the current directory only

The model plus placed object source files from both the current directory and the library (arcalib) directories

All of the above plus certain system files that you may have changed in the course of your work (wall and T-junction definitions, fonts, and system configuration).

If prompted, specify the source directory path for library files (e.g., c:\librarya), or press Enter if the source files are in the system arcalib directory.

If prompted, specify the target directory path for library files (e.g., a:\librarya), or press Enter to copy the library files to the ARC+ system arcalib directory.

Confirm overwriting existing files, or choose to prevent overwriting of all or selected files.

Choose whether to open the copied model on your screen for editing. If you open the file, you may specify the initial view (e.g. plan, elevation, or axonometric).

The files are copied according to your specifications. If subdirectories with the correct system names (e.g., arcalib) do not exist in the target location, they are created.

Restoring project Files from a Backup

If you backed up a project using this command, you can restore the files by using the command once again.

For example, run the command specifying a:\model1 and a:\librarya as the source model and library locations. When prompted for the target model and library location, press Enter for the current and ARC+ system directories. The model is restored to your current directory and the library files are restored to the system arcalib directory.
