Deleting an Entity

Delete an entity.

\dele

Enter the delete command. Indicate and confirm the entity to be deleted. The entity is erased from the model. Press Enter to exit the command when you finish deleting.

The following describes specific delete situations:

Polygons

2d polygons

Indicate the polygon to be deleted, and it is erased.

3d regular solid

To delete the solid, leaving both base polygons:

Indicate the linking edges of the regular solid. The edges (i.e., the solid) are erased leaving the lower and upper base polygons. These cannot be converted from surface to symbol but will appear in the solid viewing mode as surface polygons.

To delete the solid, leaving only the single base polygon:

Indicate one base polygon of a regular solid. The polygon and linking edges are erased. The remaining polygon is a surface polygon that cannot be converted to a symbol polygon.

3d complex solids

Indicate any edge on a complex solid. The whole solid is erased.

Walls and Openings

walls

Indicate the wall to be deleted. Openings within the wall are also deleted.

openings

Indicate the opening to be deleted. The wall is healed.

end conditions

When you delete an end condition, it is replaced by the system end condition—a straight line. If you erase the system end condition, the wall is left open.

stairs

Indicate the lines perpendicular to the direction of the staircase, e.g., the nose of a step. (This is equivalent to the lines connecting the two bases in a simple polygon.).

selection group

See Selection, Deleting selected entities (\sdel).

other entities

Indicate the entity to be deleted and the entity is removed from the model.

\delete

This commando is very similar but more clever than \dele were it is derived from. It will delete the active selection group thus working like \sdel.
When no selection is active it will work same as \dele clicking for an entity.
