Creating or Modifying a Font - Font Editor

Create or edit a text font or edit the linear pattern font.

\fonte

Use the font editor to:

Change the style of characters in a font

Design new characters or symbols that you wish to use in text

Create new linear patterns

Specify the filename of the font you wish to edit (without the.fon extension). If the font file does not exist, it is created.

Specify a new filename under which the edited font will be saved. If you specify the same name as the original font, then the original will be permanently changed.

A 30x30 grid appears on the screen. Dashed reference lines indicate the margins of normal text characters. For text characters, work to the left and above these lines, except for characters like g and p, which extend below the line. For linear patterns that are to be used to fill wall layers, you must fill the entire height of the grid.

Press a key for the character or linear pattern that you wish to edit.

The present design of the character (if it exists) appears on the grid.

Edit the character or design a new one using the options shown in the table below.

The new font contains both the characters that you edited, plus any other characters from the original font that you did not edit.

To use the new patterns in the linear pattern commands, access them from the keyboard and not from the library display (see Hatching and Patterns, linear patterns).

You must exit font editor with the e option. If you accidentally started another command and the font grid remains on screen, re-enter font editor and exit with e.
